This thesis offers eleven short stories, the majority of which examine the different ways desire and sex fit into modern life. Sometimes desire enslaves us; sometimes it orients us when we are otherwise lost. Sometimes it’s an anti-depressant, or it's the one true connection between two lonely folks. Sometimes we use sex to measure our self-worth or the fullness of our lives.

"Burrito Road, Florida" can be read as a coda to "Suitcase Girl," but it also stands on its own.
