2007 as reviewed by a juvenile survey

a holiday tradition. i've done this survey for four years.
i took out some of the questions that i thought were dumb, or that i couldn't answer.
1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before? took oxycontin, moved house, disposed of my vomit in a public trash receptacle, ate vegan for two weeks, had my purse stolen, taught fiction, actually enjoyed a blind date, failed a student, tubed in florida, received a friendly email from adam, cut down a fifteen foot christmas tree in a forest, attempted lent, spent a few days in a total fog of highness, left myspace, went to summer school, taught summer school, drove the east coast, did a duo halloween costume, wore a fake tattoo for two weeks, didn't do new years in md, burned my feet, had sex in the daytime, decorated for christmas, attended a watermelon party, slept in an airport, bought pink clothing, visited tampa, atlanta, charleston.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Last year's resolutions (and this is verbatim from my diary)
"lose a little weight, i guess. stay happy." success, success.
Next year's resolutions? lose a little weight (10 is my goal), i guess. stay happy.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? not that i witnessed.
4. Did anyone close to you die? no
5. What countries did you visit? just the US.
6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
as always: discipline, inspiration, a waist.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? my writing in the spring and summer, losing weight
9. What was your biggest failure? my non-writing in the fall
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? colds, scrapes, burns, depression relapse in fall.
11. What was the best thing you bought? stila eyeliner. impossible not to sound shallow on this question.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? again the award goes to felice, who is a nice person
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? my own. assorted males of the familial, friendly, and romantic kind. assorted females of the friendly kind.
14. Where did most of your money go? to rent, to the top.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? moving into the house, meeting the first years.
16. What song will always remind you of 2007? "Rehab" by Amy Winehouse, "Umbrella" by Rihanna, "Young Folks" by Peter Bjorn and John.
17. Compared to this time last year, you are:
i. happier or sadder? same.
ii. thinner or fatter? thinner
iii. richer or poorer? poorer.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of? writing, keeping in contact with friends.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of? waking in the pm, surfing the internet
20. How will you be spending Christmas? already spent it in Maryland
21. What have you learned about yourself in 2007? i need a best friend more than anything else. a boyfriend would be nice, but my particular brand of longing has less to do with men than i originally thought.
22. Did you fall in love in 2007? not really. i always say, there aren't enough words.
23. How many one-night stands? none.
24. What was your favorite TV program? arrested development, the wire
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? no.
26. What was the best book you read? Reasons to Live by Amy Hempel, Nimrod Flipout by Etgar Keret,
27. What was your greatest musical discovery? Amy Winehouse, Jenny Lewis, Lily Allen, Mark Ronson, I rediscovered Q-tip, if that counts.
30. What was your favorite film of this year? Ratatouille was good. I can't remember. I liked Waitress, too, and Children of Men. Those are new releases. I saw many more movies for the first time, like Joe Versus the Volcano.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? had homemade brunch at Lee's, opened presents, napped all day, ate at gator docksides' (my secret love), had mimosas on wylie's porch. my feet hurt from being burnt. I was 23.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007? flip flops. mid-length skirts, those lovely white tee shirts. no one cares about this, but i changed my coloring in the fall to reflect my haircolor. i went from warm to cool. okay, there.
34. What kept you sane? i wouldn't say it kept me sane, rather prevented me from sliding further into insanity, but the obvious answer is Cedar Key.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? the australian guy on House. and James Mcavoy, obvi.
36. What political issue stirred you the most? i still don't like wars.
37. Who did you miss? Christine. hardcore--more than usual.
38. Who was the best new person you met? all the first years and their respective friends (ryan, amy the dog)
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007: ask for what you need.
